Title: Side Decks
Post by: Slayer of Heroes on February 28, 2014, 01:11:46 PM
So I had this question about my side deck and couldn't find the answer to it anywhere, so I'm asking you guys!! :) Am I allowed to have more than four of the same card (not basic lands) in my side deck?

You are not. Unless the card states that there can be an unlimited number of that card  ({Shadowborn Apostle}) in that deck. But the sideboard is treated the same as the deck in this regard

Here's the rule for the side board:

100.4a (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?action=imtg;area=rule;number=100.4a): In constructed play, a sideboard may contain no more than fifteen cards. The four-card limit (see rule 100.2a) applies to the combined deck and sideboard.

This part of the rule
"The four-card limit (see rule 100.2a) applies to the combined deck and sideboard."
Means that you can't have more than 4 of a card in the combination of your deck and side board. This makes sense considering the board is there to swap into your deck and you can't use more than four anyway.
