I've been using a blue black deck but I'm wondering about switching to a mono black deck. What are the strengths and weaknesses of a mono black deck?
This should not be under the Rules Forum :)
Questions like this should be under Discussion: Magic The Gathering -> Discussion thread :)
The mods will move it there :)
What format is the deck?
Are you looking for a budget deck or a tier 1 deck?
Those really are great questions to start with.
I also like to start with probably the most important. What is your goal? This usually translates to a more precise question of what are you trying to beat?
I'm almost a half year introduced into the game myself. I'm starting to join wed modern tournaments and for awhile I've been using a few deck builders tool-boxes and have a pretty decent blue/black deck that currently mills/life-link but I've been working on a serious mana problem running about 10 swamps 8islands w/ a few multi color lands. I don't want milling to become of my hole deck so i'm considering creating a black zombie/big beastie and instead of counters be using cards such as doom-blade and or duress to get the upper hand on my opponents. I'm just wondering how I should go about a mono black deck w/o using blue control but still being able to control the pace of the game
I like to use creature removal/sac outlets on opponents. I also like hand size/discard/draw punishment to keep opponents in check. I can post some card ideas, if need be.
If you want to go zombies get some Innistrad stuff. There are soooo many zombies in Innistrad
