So what do all of my fellow iMTGers think of the new card border that will be rolling out in M15?
I like it pretty well (more space for art & text, yay!), and I just want to see other's opinions on it.
Also, out of all of the people who I play Magic with, I'm the only one who thinks that the new card border will be on all the cards. Apparently, they don't really pay attention to what the Wizards site has to say ( From the Director's Chair 2013 in review).
iirc, a lot of people here don't like it because with more room comes more negative (unused) space.
I can make judgements about it I suppose but in all honesty, I don't really care what they do with the boarders.
Tbh i think it looks cool, but i guess i'm the only one :P
I don't care for the repetition of info. At the bottom it says tr language, set, and rarity. All information I can get from the rest of the card. I don't see the point. Anyone else?
I kind of like it. The holofoil stamp is a cool idea, but it'll definitely take some getting used to.
I like that they will credit the design. Makes the cards more heartwarming 😊
I don't like it, but it may just be because it's different from what I've grown to love. I really like the current border look, and all of the different versions of it (miracle cards especially). So my objection is mostly an aversion to change, if I'm being perfectly honest. I'm sure ill get used to it in time.
I actually think its rather ugly. Its like the difference between IOS 7 and IOS 6. whatever. You get something uglier but slightly more functional.
iOS 7 is "cleaner" but dumbed down. For normal users its more of a chore to do things than before. It's like windows 8. Simpler yet dumber.
As for magic borders. I think we should go back to the old border and brown artifacts! Always found silver/gray ugly and unappealing.
I think the silver artifact look is sweet its so cllleeeeaaan, its why i love artifacts at all

me too! I was really thrown by it. They aren't going to print him again surely.
Shall I dare guess a reprint of goyf at mythic rare in "hewy"?
Them printing {waste not} in M15...that card is synergistic with goyf. And we know how much wizards loves synergy

The old brown made it feel like an artifact in the sense that they were ancient and that's cool.
Although I remember the way they used to do multi-colored cards with like that weird yellowish-greenish-bronze color ( {Lava Zombie} ). Not pretty
The old borders were weird - somehow, even though the looked older and rougher, the foils look incredible and different. My brother has a foil {Overmaster} and it looks absolutely amazing. It's hard to believe it's the same red border that looks so dull and boring. With the current border, sometimes you can barely see the difference in foils.
While I have a general aversion to changing an established norm (I initially hated the 8th edition change, Future-shifted cards, miracle cards, transform cards, and Theros block enchantment + type cards), I find holo-foil to be wholly unnecessary in any capacity.
Given as much as I've been drifting away from MtG lately, I wouldn't be surprised if Journey into Nyx is my last expansion. My wife would probably agree that I have "enough" cards. ;-)
It wasn't broke and didn't need fixing.
