So, if I use {Domestication} on an opponent's god, say {Phenax, God of Deception}, once I take control, it stops being a creature, and the aura will fall off. Now, would this cause Phenax to go back to my opponent? Or do I get to keep him?

Darn. I was hoping that since he didn't fit the "creature" requirement of the card anymore, he wouldn't be subject to returning.
As the orogional question has been answered now. Let me ask how are you putting a {domestication} on a god in the first place? They're all too big.

They're only too big at the end step. You can cast it on anything, you just lose it at the end step.
I've done this to remove a blocker temporarily.
