Post by: Pretch on February 22, 2014, 07:52:24 PM
If I have 3 {crackling perimeter} out and I tap one gate do all crackling perimeters go off?

No since tapping the gate is part of the cost to use {Crackling Perimeter}'s  ability you can not tap it to pay for multiple abilities.

Look at it this way. You have 3 {crackling parameter} out. You go to the first on and it says tap an untapped gate for one damage, so you tap a gate and that ability goes on the stack. In response you go to CP # 2 and it says tap an untapped gate for one damage. The gate you used for CP # 1 is already tapped so cannot be used to activate another ability.

So each one has to have its own gate.

Just to clarify a point mentioned by others, but not explicitly stated. By the wording of your question I am guessing that you are confusing the crackling perimeter's activated ability with a triggered ability.  Triggered abilities begin with a keyword such as when or if, and this ability is written as cost:effect. Taping a gate for mana will not trigger any of your perimeters. You need to tap it as payment for the effect.
