Are artifacts spells? Do you have to wait until your next turn to activate their ability? {Ancient Den}
Specifically, {Ancient Den} is not a spell, is says so right on the card ;)
But unless it says otherwise, yes, artifacts ARE spells. And you can Tap and Activate their abilities as soon as you play them. Just like Planeswalkers, they are NOT effected by Summoning Sickness :)

Even a summoning sickness creature can have an ability activated first turn it's out as long as it's not a tap ability
