Title: Spear vs double strike trample
Post by: Younghawk on February 15, 2014, 07:26:44 PM
If I have {spear of Heliod} out and my opponent attacks me with a {savageborn hydra} and say its a 4/4 and gives it +5/+4 and trample could I use the spear after I block with a 0/6 and take the roll over damage?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but if you block the now 9/8 hydra with a 0/6 your 0/6 will die, taking 6 out of the 9 total damage, and you will take 3 before you can kill the hyrda with your spear of heliod. Hope this answers the question.

The answer is yes.. The hydra damaged you so you can destroy it with spear.

Yes. Priority passes between played after first strike damage and before regular combat damage, allowing you to use instant speed effects, such as the spear.
