So, I've recently discovered Transmute while looking at cards for my {Karador} deck, and I'm curious about what other people think of it.
I personally like the mechanic. It's pretty well-priced at three mana on each card, and while some of the transmute cards suck, others are pretty cool. {Shred Memory}, for example, is a decent grave hate option in EDH, and it can search for powerful two-drops such as {Demonic Tutor}. {Dimir House Guard} is a free sac outlet on a stick that searches {Solemn Simulacrum}, {Grave Pact}, and other wonderful four-drops.
So, what do you guys think?
It's useful in a deck that wants to get stuff into the grave (like {Karador, Ghost Chieftan}), but I'd usually rather just run {Demonic Tutor}, etc. Since there are only so many tutor spots to fill.
I use {Tolaria west} to search {tolarian academy}
Naturally. But no one seems to use transmute aside from {Tolaria West}.

In EDH?!? Damn, wish I could do that!
If there is a specific card your deck needs to work, it might be usful
I use it when black is unavailable. In EDH it is extremely useful.
