Title: Cockatrice Help
Post by: Lyriczulu on February 10, 2014, 07:04:39 PM
So I just got Cockatrice set up on my laptop (Mac client) and I'm just wondering how a typical game plays out in terms of passing priority and all that business. I'm used to how MTGO does it with stops and automatically passing priority, but at first glance it seems to me like everything must be done manually on Cockatrice. For example, if I want to play something during the end step, do I have to tell my opponent to wait or is there some way to set up a stop? Or when I cast a spell I guess I need to wait for my opponent to tell me it resolves?

Any tips would be appreciated!

So how it usually works is: you go from one phase to the next through your turn and your opponent can interject if they want to cast anything at the end of a phase or in response (make sure to ask for responses to casting spells). When you're done with your turn, go to your end step and wait for your opponent. They will hit the pass button when they're ready to start their turn.

Ok makes sense. There's no built in rules engine right? So I guess you would use the chat window a lot to make sure to keep your opponent aware of what you're doing.

That's right. Most people on there know what they're doing, but you should still announce things like persist triggers (even if just by saying "persist").
