I drafted 3 botg packs yesterday and I ended up going monoblue. I had 2 whelming waves and a bunch of other stuff like retraction helix. I hate drafted karametra and both green and white archetypes. I ended up going 9 creatures but I won the draft with 2 wins and a tie. In the last match I won game 1 by exchanging perplexing chimcera for the other guys Mogis and then since Mogis wasnt a creature on my side I used whelming wave and got my chimcera back but he didnt get his Mogis. In game 2 of that match I countered 3out of the 5 creatures he played and used retraction helix to send the other 2 back to his hand. The only bomb I had was kraken of the straights but hey what can I say. There were 2 Brimaz so I got one of those and a couple eh rares. After starting to play mtg in December I'm actually pretty happy. This was my first draft win.
Nice win, sounds like a great deck. Also, congrats on the King of the Kitties!
Winner gets to pick from the cards that were opened in draft? Interesting.. Every place I play you keep what you draft, and win packs..
It's common for places to do a picks draft instead of prize pool
Picks usually end up being cheaper
My LGS does picks also.

Do you find more people drop if they lose match one?
I'd imagine this would be the case if you pulled something worth more than the draft fee that you wanted
Mine do what's called a "rare draft" that sounds similar to that. But they also pack draft. I haven't rare drafted yet but it seems cool.

Most people stay and play it out . My shop tends to open some crazy stuff on the regular so the drafts are always pretty nice.

so interesting you would say this. this is how i imagine drafts for packs work. pack 1 open a brimaz, leave draft because you already got the best card in the set, so save yourself three hours. in a draft for picks, unless you are scum, you wont leave without turning your picks in.
