Title: Standard Tier 1 Decks
Post by: Taysby on February 06, 2014, 12:40:34 PM
Here is a comprehensive list of all the current Tier 1 decks.  I will keep it updated as much as I can, possibly with commentary.  If I missed a deck, PM me and I will fix that.

Also, this isn't for decks that you think are good.  It's for the decks that all the pros play and that you see at every tournament.  If it hasn't top 8ed at least once, it will not find a home here.

Any chance of seeing this in modern?

{Voyaging Satyr} isn't really a staple in R/G Monsters anymore. And {Ruric Thar, the Unbowed} has been replaced mostly by things like {Fanatic of Xenagos} and {Courser of Kruphix} since they come out faster and have more early game options. Additionally, 4x {Stormbreath Dragon} is a must in this deck. Otherwise, I really like this list.

I'm waiting to see some innovative decks using Born of the Gods cards. I've seen a deck from Brian Braun Duin called Bant Walkers that looked pretty interesting. Also Brad Nelson used a red deck I had never seen in the Nashville tournament.

It is amazing. Bant Superfriends is going to be SO epic! {Elspeth, Sun's Champion}, {Jace, Architect of Thought}, and {Kiora, the Crashing Wave} are SICK together. My friend Ryan built this immediately after we returned from the tournament this past weekend.

Any decklist for UW control, or Orzhov control? I think UW will be a very good deck now with {Fated Retribution}

.        Indeed, I can't wait for the new builds. I'm working on a Grixis Aggro deck which will use  {Pain Seer} and  {Springleaf Drum} should be exciting

is gruul aggro different from gruul monsters?
I'm assuming aggro is just pumping out lots of  damage as early as possible with pump spells and monsters is ramping into beaters
Title: Re: Standard Tier 1 Decks
Post by: rarehuntertay on February 15, 2014, 12:29:10 AM
You have Gruul monsters and Gruul devotion. Currently, the more popular deck is Gruul monsters, which can be either aggro or midrange. Gruul devotion uses cards like BTE, voyaging satyr, nyxthos and nylea to generate huge amounts of mana to pump creatures to huge levels or wipe the board with polukranos.

The naya control deck doesn't seem to be the more popular one. The more popular naya control runs 2 polukranos 4 smiter and 4 storm breath as creatures, runs 1 assemble the legion, no ruric thars sideboard because of all of the removal. It also runs 4 anger of the gods and a fourth selesnya charm over Advents and magma jets

I play a deck similar to the red green monsters but no voyaging satyrs and i sideboard the ruric thar and play mistcutters and kalonian hydras and reverent hunters because the mistcutters and hunters come out faster and work well with kalonians static ability

Peak eruption only works vs other decks with red.. The rest is mostly control for creature heavy decks and token decks.. Is play skull crack over lightening strike and if you throw in satyr firedancer then you are hitting the player and a creature

If you mean mono white devotion, it hasn't been proven yet.  If you mean white weenies, wtf are you talking about?  I thought about kaleo's 27 angry one drops, but it's not tier 1.  People don't competitively play it at tournaments.

Lol I heard that! Tournaments are made to be played with more exceptional cards that do far more damage and have more abilities to counteract with other decks.

This is what you need to add to this list:

Rw devotion (you only have dw burn on the list)

Gruul monsters/midrange

Bant superfriends

Naya midrange (different than nays auras)

Naha aggro (also different from the other maya lists)

Selesnya aggro

Junk midrange

Boss sligh

Naha tokens (yes it is a deck)

Proof that these decks are teir 1, can be found at starcitygames.com and tcgplayer.com

This is just a brief list
