Is it good to play a planswalker in this format. My shop started doing edh on Thursday and I want to get down. Thanks.

Can't imagine why not. Check out the Commander decklists for ideas.

It depends on the planeswalker of course, but often they can make a solid addition to any commander deck. For example, nearly any token deck will have use for Garruk, one form or another. Everyone loves a bajillion 6/6 wurms after all.

And, while they do tend to be targeted and die fast in multiplayer games, they do have the benefit of not being creatures and thus surviving the many board wipes of commander (usually).

I make sure I fit at least one in every commander deck.

I mean most games it wont last long enough to do much good since alot of edh games are huge and multiplayer it typically is just a human shield

I like any Jace in the format (memory adept really only fits in 1 arc type...) but card advantage is always a bonus!
