Title: Trade Etiquette
Post by: xStrayKnightx on February 04, 2014, 11:30:14 AM
So I know this guy who has a {Thran Dynamo} from FTV:20 for trade. I desperately need that card.

As I have nothing he needs, I offered to do a value trade, which came to about $6.

I offered him several combinations that gave me the amount needed to complete the value trade, but he refused on the grounds that he didn't like the cards I offered him.

My question is this; if you participate in a value trade, is it rude or whatever to deny the trade based on what cards you're offered, if they collectively reach the value needed?

They dont want certain things from the trade, simple as that. Doesn't seem rude at all.

Plus, when trading in value, it's usually quality over quantity. If you don't have his needs, he's going to want something that he can use for trading fodder to entice someone that does have the card he's looking for. If I am trading a shock, I'm more than likely not going to trade down for 4 {curse of the swine} unless I need them.

It's not wrong. Why trade something into something you don't want? Especially when your down trading?

It's like me. I have old duals. I'm not going to just trade them for equal value just because. Id rather keep them at that rate and particularly with older stuff ill only trade it for older stuff that I want.

I don't do value trading. I trade for things I need only, so I understand.

Hey, it's all available for trade... But for things I need, not just random value. That's all I'm saying. ;)

BTW if you offer a "value" trade, I normally am expecting someone to "over trade", since you are essentially getting what you want and I  am left with cards I then have to attempt to re-trade.

So if you offered him equal value, what inventive does he have to trade you the card??

If you don't have what I need...well then I don't need to trade?

People keep offering me shocks for my Emmy but I don't want shocks for Emmy. Not unreasonable.
