Title: EDH-GD
Post by: Double-O-Scotch on January 31, 2014, 11:33:19 PM
Not sure about this one. I have elspeth, ke's emblem. My opponent is running {sliver overlord}. It's on the field and punching me in the face for 7. My turn, I drop {empyrial archangel}. But I can't block because of {shifting sliver}. And his next turn it'll be 14 because of {bonescythe sliver} Does the damage replacement effect of {empyrial archangel} avoid me dying from GD?

I say yes, it's indestructible, so it can keep taking damage, it won't be destroyed.

Damage dealt to you is instead redirected to yor angel. The sliver technically never actually hits you.

I vote absolutely. Your not blocking, damage is simply redirected to your angel of holy cow what do I do now.

Only hope is a mass exile and force sac. Time to get  {Sigarda, Host of Herons} out also!

GD requires damage to be dealt, otherwise it's not damage. Archangel states that "damage will be dealt to archangel instead", so damage is not dealt to you at all.
