Where do you guys want the story to go to after we're done with Theros? And why, most importantly. What ideas do you have for something you're keen on?
I anticipate an eventual return to Zendikar. After all, Gideon still needs help. Kiora, too, I suppose.
What I'd love, though, is for Phyrexia to make a comeback, with multicolour Praetors! That'd be sweet.

The Preators are powerful enough as it is... Do we need more.... Lol
Non tribal creature set! Non tribal creature set!
No more bloody planeswalkers.
Finally destroy phyerixia. They've been around far too long.

Curse you birdbrain, why dust thou stymie my desires for the greatest potential tribal of all time?!?!
Ferret overrun!
dont worry. MaRo once said that every creature type will have a lord...meaning...eventually, any tribal deck is possible.
I just want to see wizards get creative with a creature set. Do something that hasn't been done before with that theme. Maybe like...
CREATURE INSTANTS!!! Whooooohoooooo!

{boon satyr}
Ok, back to ferrets
i don't think a creature instant would work like that...I think you could cast it during the battle phase, and it would enter the battlefield attacking or blocking, and also have an "when this spell is cast" effect. Then, it would go to the graveyard once the damage step has been resolved.
Something like that
Quote from: Noblellama on January 28, 2014, 03:01:43 PM
So a temporary cast creature?
I think there would need to be some requirements for them to prevent abuse.
Like, you may only cast this creature if 2 or more creatures are attacking.
That way if you keep the cmc of the "instant creatures" cheap to make it reasonable, it won't be broken for play
thats a good idea. Although something else is they could simply be on curve. Like a 2/2 green creature for {G}{1} that when it's cast target other creature gains +3/+3 or +2/+2 or something like that
Yea...definitely +2/+2. +3/+3 would be wicked sick and OP
Edit: you could have two attacking 5/5's for 4 if it was +3/+3
I want return to Zendikar! Let's see an awesome fight between the Eldrazi and Super Friends!
Pherixized ravnica would be a cool story. The only way loxodons could have ended up on Mirridon is if they were taken from ravnica when...memnark?...was collecting specimens to fill the plane. That means, ravnica has the stain of pherexia
Also, I want to see Mirridon be freed of the pherexian stain
I guess phyerixia will always be the big bad guy and will never go away.

I'm betting $5 (anyone want to take me up?) that we return to zendikar next, BECaUSE in Kimora's planeswalker profile it says she's finding big sea monsters to clear the eldrazi off of zendikar.
i call, but don't raise

Let's not forget that {Gideon, Champion of Justice} went to Ravnica and allied with Boros in order to recruit help against the Eldrazi as well...
True, Gorzo.
I think the Eldrazi, being entities from the Blind Eternities, are the most immediate threat that our 'Walkers need to deal with.
But I also reckon that the Phyrexians are true to their exact nature; a slow acting poison, steadily getting a grip on a plane, taking root and then causing untold mayhem on the planes body.
Something I'd really love to see is the Phyrexians delve into more than a mono-coloured style. Not Ravnica, as we've been there twice now, but something else. Perhaps Shadowmoor or Lorwyn?
Where are you guys getting the storyline from?
I am so keen for a Kamigawa reprise. 😢 But knowing the bad reception it got has me a little doubtful. 😔😔😔😔 {Tamiyo, the Moon Sage} got me so excited to see a Moonflok again, then the recent {Heroes' Podium} got me hopeful ... but I still doubt it.
One day.
Argentum. Ya know the Plane Karn created. It would be another Artifact Plane which would be awesome. #bringbackmetalcraft
This might be a boring suggestion, but how about a return to Dominaria. Maybe see what has changed since we were on that plane. Pick up pieces of Urza's designs that might have been lost/misplaced. I also would love to go back to a return to Ice Age. How about duel snow-covered lands? What do you think?

Yea...thats was called mirrodin and now it's New Phyrexia.
I can without a doubt say Zendikar in the next two years. However i am a little reluctant to say this next year because I do not for see two printings of Kiora legal at the same time.
There's two printings of Jace legal right now

Can only give 1 karma/day :( :( :P
Also, I think reuturn to zendikar is likely, and I hope it will happen :P as I didn't play during zendikar block :(

No suprise with jace, liliana, chandra, ajani, and garruk. They are the big 5. Also core sets do not reflect story in anyway. Their purpose is to simplify magic for teaching kids on summer break and to stabilize the competiive format with needed stables or pushes to otherwise weaker colors.
Was there two different copies of Sarkhan in standard at one point? Sorry I don't really know but I think there was

Yes: {Sarkhan Vol} and {Sarkhan the Mad} were both in standard after Rize of the Eldrazi and before Scars of Mirrodin. It's a pretty cool way to show character development.

Sarkan got to story printings at once because Bolas used him as a slave and they were experiementing with planeswalkers cards. I believe Ajani also overlapped for a year. The next time they this though was tezzeret and they waited till the seeker rotated before releasing agent of bolas.
Thanks I didn't want to go check my copies for the set symbols. They are in my Modern Dragons deck
I think another Kiora would be interesting for story development with the Zendikar block because it would show whether or not she was successful in gathering the creatures of the deep

my thoughts exactly! I know there are books, but so many?! How far behind the books is the card game?!? Have the next few years of mtg already been planned out?! IS THE FATE OF OUR PRECIOUS CARD GAME IN THE HANDS OF AUTHORS?!
The books went out of print a few years ago. I don't think they're making any more.

Are you thinking of the comics? I'm talking about the actual novels they used to write. The ones by Jeff Grubb, and his cast that made the best stories I've ever read!
Quote from: Noblellama on January 29, 2014, 12:45:07 AM
I have the old books
They started at singles and then moved to series of three, a couple of anthologies, and then settled into sets of three until they did the shadowmoor/evantide/lorwyn stuff then did a few singles and then switched to online graphic novels
Sad degeneration of the true backbone of the story and history of the game
+1 sir. Couldn't have said it better, myself.
Let's not forget about the artifact cycle was four books!
