Title: Dungeon geists and mismeadow
Post by: Ertai on January 26, 2014, 05:40:55 PM
If I play {Dungeon Geists} and have a {Mistmeadow Witch}.  If I chose a target from {Dungeon Geists} would I get to keep the original target and choose another target if I used {Mistmeadow Witch}'s ability on {Dungeon Geists}?

112.6. Abilities of an instant or sorcery spell usually function only while that object is on the stack. Abilities of all other objects usually function only while that object is on the battlefield.

I think this rule is more relevant, actually- when he's temporarily exiled, his ability stops functioning.

Right, but before their untapped step, he comes back and the card says specifically while I control dungeon Geists.

It doesn't say while it's on the battlefield, which cards normally do.

403.4. (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?action=imtg;area=rule;number=403.4.): Whenever a permanent enters the battlefield, it becomes a new object and has no relationship to any previous permanent represented by the same card, except for the cases listed in rule 400.7. (This is also true for any objects entering any zone.)

When it says "Dungeon Geists," it is referring to itself, not to "a creature with the name Dungeon Geists."

This is what I needed. Thank you sir. +1
