Title: Hybrid Cards and Devotion
Post by: Destore117 on January 14, 2014, 01:37:40 AM
So say you played something like {Demigod of Revenge}
Could it count towards any combination of 5 {R}{B} devotion?
5 red
5 black
2 red 3 black
3 black 2 red
4 red 1 black
1 red 4 black

Basically what I'm asking is
Do you decide how it's Mana symbols get added to your devotion?

It would counts as 5 devotion any way you add it up. It would also count 5 devotion for  {Purphoros, God of the Forge} and  {Erebos, God of the Dead} at the same time

It's 5 total devotion, not 10. Some people have been getting confused on that.

Becareful. Mogis only considers him as 5 devotion. To prove this, read the rules of devotion and converted mana costs. The converted mana cost of { demigod of revenge } is only 5 but has a split connection of having it to be able to play red or black, NOT red and black. ^_^

So wait. You decide whether it's Red Or black on Mogis. Right? So it's not 5 to red and 5 to black meaning you need only 2 red and 2 black to play him? It's 5 to red OR 5 to black meaning I'd need 7 of the other color and 2 of the one he's going for?
Other cards that don't ask for both obviously just count for the 5 of whatever they want.

Ok. So you need 2 devotion to red. And 2 devotion still to black to make Mogis a creature.

Isn't it if your devotion to red AND black isn't 7 he's not a creature? So demigod makes both 5 Mogis makes them 6 right?

Nope, it is total of the combination
Demigod offers 5 plus mogis's one red and one black.
{B}{B}{B}{B}{B} + {B}{R} = {7}
Or
{R}{R}{R}{R}{R} + {B}{R} = {7}
That's why I was so confused. I thought you needed 7 of each color.

It's easier to think of it like "devotion to two colors is determined by any combination of either"

Oh no! That would be a terrible card!!!
Well not if every god was like that. They'd all be the same in taking an EON to get onto the field lol
