Title: Charge Counter deck
Post by: Squiddar1117 on October 28, 2011, 12:49:57 PM
Hey guys. First things first, I am fairly new to Magic. Second, I love weird decks. So I was thinking about making a charge counter deck. Vedalken Infusers, Coretappers, Energy Chambers, etc. The main point of this deck would be a card called Magistrate's Scepter, which gives you another turn when you tap it with three charge counters. If you manage to get, for example, two Coretappers and an Energy Chamber, you can keep doing this until you have enough on the table to finish the game. Good cards for the charge counters would be Titan Forge and stuff like that. Also, Primordial Hydra thrown into this deck could be an instawin seeing as it can technically have hundreds of thousands of P/T when combo'd with Magistrate's Scepter, and you win when you swing with it because it has trample. This won't be a very competitively played deck, but I'd like it to be as competitive as possible =P Any suggestions?

*cough* *cough* Proliferate.

In a more indepth answer, check out Scars of Mirrodin block. {Contagion Clasp}, {Inexorable Tide}, all good stuff. Try to look into {Surge Node} as well.

Welcome to Magic!  It's always good to have more Planeswalkers.  I had made a deck just like the one you are looking several years back at and uploaded it as Can't Counter the Counters in the Casual forum.  I will try to move it here.

Basically, like you said, the idea is to gain infinite turns in a row.  However, one of my favorite lock downs with this deck is to play out a {Decree of Silence} and a {Power Conduit} or two, automatically countering nearly all of their spells for a lock down.  Quicksilver fountain is great because it will slowly rob everyone at the table (I play mostly multiplayer) of all colors but blue and the counters stay on even if they manage to destroy the fountain.  You'll want some {Fabricate}s to find your {Magistrate's Scepter} and other tools.

If you want to update this deck, just do a search for "charge counters", there's a ton of cards that use them now.  If you're using the {Coretapper}s, I'd recommend other myr for mana acceleration, like {Platinum Myr}.  Plus one {Palladium Myr} and two {Myr Galvanizer}s mean infinite tapping of myrs.  Also, {Triskelion} is really good at "spot removal" when you can pile on counters.

I'm current working on redoing this deck myself, with an infect/proliferate twist.  I'll upload it when it's to a certain level of quality.  ;)

For Triskelion is it possible to remove several counters in one turn without something like Power Conduit? Like can you just remove three all at once?

Totally possible. You can remove any number of them in a row, one at a time.  But you'll have to build it up if you want to kill a {Primeaval Titan} or something.

Also, what do you think of the combination of Doubling Season and Rings of Brighthearth? Also, what about Tezzeret the Seeker?
