Hey gang,
So I have a ton of friends that play casual magic and others that are interested in starting to play thus I figured would build a cube for all of us to play.
Now I have never done this before and I don't have a ton of cash but I was wondering if people can give me an idea how to build it and some simple guideline to follow.
Thanks in advance!
P.S do cubes run multiples of cards
If you want to make a cheap cube, you could easily build a pauper cube (all commons). Also yes, cubes occasionally include multiples, but not usually.
One good tip for making a cube is to design specific archetypes within the cube. A good example of this would be like in the MTGO holiday cube, where there are decks that function around {Upheaval} and decks that function around the storm mechanic. Both decks are built very differently, and though they may occasionally use some of the same cards, the goal is ultimately different. Upheaval decks want a million mana rocks so they can float a million mana before they {Upheaval} to completely reset your lands and all, meanwhile they play all their stuff right back out. Storm decks play a million free spells or rituals (Like {Pyretic Ritual}) to build a high storm count and kill you with {Brain Freeze} or {Tendrils of Agony}.
Hope this helps and gives you some insight as to cube and how to build an efficient cube.
You can make a cube list, populate it with what you have, and proxy the rest. As you come across cards you can replace the proxies .

Speaking of the holiday cube, why do they charge you 10 event tickets? That's $10 and you don't even get to keep anything!
Because they let you play with the most powerful cards ever printed? And if you do well enough, your draft pays for 2 more drafts.

you can win event tickets?
Since its a phantom event (meaning you don't get to keep the cards) you can win phantom tickets.
