Title: Silver/gold cards
Post by: CyberStrider on January 06, 2014, 02:48:57 PM
Are silver and gold cards banned in edh as I can't find anything on mtg sites only on player made sites?

They are ok in casual and cube since there are no specific rules for either. It's up to the group you play with.

First, Wizards did not create Commander and doesn't manage card legality for the format. The official commander site is http://mtgcommander.net/rules.php

If you click on "Deck Construction," you'll find the following:

Quote7. Commander is played with vintage legal cards

Gold- and silver-bordered cards are not legal in vintage, therefore they are not legal in Commander.

Bravo, I had forgotten that there was a well managed source for edh info. The rules are fairly intuitive overall so I aside from the easily searchable ban list I havent had to look up edh stuffs.

I'm aware that it follows vintage rules but when I looked on the banned list it doesn't say anything about silver and gold bordered cards.

Thats because they are not actually magic cards as far as the rest of the game is concerned. With exactly ONE exception, basic land.

Exactly this. They are not magic cards. Similar but collector and fun stuff only.

Unhinged and unglued are parody sets. Funny business.

If you go to an unglued or unhinged card on our card search. Click the pot leaf that says "legalities". It will say what set it's legal in.

Also, somewhere in the rules it says that only black and white border cards are legal for play.
