Title: Holy Piles of Junk, Batman!
Post by: LadyGrixis on January 05, 2014, 03:41:38 PM
I literally have been tossing this concept around in my head for a while now. I really like Junk and the potential of all the cards is provides, especially since Green/White isn't QUITE able to stand on its own yet in Standard.

I originally had {Trostani, Selesnya's Voice} in the mix, but ended up moving her to the Maybeboard since the double green & double whites took so long to accomplish. I would really love for her to find a way back into the Mainboard, but I just don't know if it's possible.

Win conditions are: {Archangel of Thune}, {Voice of Resurgence}, and {Pack Rat}.

I really like the {Mutavaults} in this deck, considering they give me early/extra creature options, as well as triggering {Pack Rat}'s ability; but after playtesting a bit, almost 25% of the time they set me back turns.....which is why I added {Blind Obedience}. {Doom Blade}s for creature removal with {Putrefy}s in the Sideboard to take care of non-black creatures & artifacts. {Centaur Healer}, sometimes combo'd with {Unflinching Courage}, are in place to make up for the life lost when playing so many Shocklands/falling behind in an Aggro match, as well as {Rootborn Defenses} for both protection & population purposes.

Please help me add more Synergy & Speed to this deck!

I understand that it's for Pack Rat but {Drainpipe Vernon} should not be there I'd add a couple {Fleecemane Lions} instead

{Blood Baron of Vizkopa} is a very capable beater that will work well in this deck. Plus, Mono-black devotion can't handle it and Esper has problems with it.

{Fleecemane Lion}s just don't feel right in here. They need a full-out Selesnya deck, or a Bant-ish type deck. The Blood Baron sounds like a good addition though.....maybe pull out the two rats and throw them in? Yikes....

I feel like lions are good here though the monstrous is nice but if anything else they're an early beater or an early blocker

Well I'm glad it took it today. Today being the key word there.

So -2 to Vermin and +2 Fleecemanes?

That's what I'd suggest

From my experience with {Fleecemane Lion}, {Doom Blade}. As in, the second you even draw a Fleecemane, your opponent uses a kill spell (an exaggeration of course, but you know what I mean).

Swap  {Centaur Healer} for  {Fiendslayer Paladin} as the combo with the angel is amazing. Plus the removal resistance is awesome.

The only problem I may run into with running multiple double mana symbols in the creature cost is: This is a 3-color deck. So it slows it down and makes it harder for me to draw that specific mana when I need it.

And as for the Fleecemanes, I'll just have to ponder them more. They're a nice drop, but again the green & white cost is limiting, especially when I'd rather drop a Voice. I can deal with kill spells; I'd rather someone waste a kill spell on a Fleecemane so I can drop a Thune later and have it stick.

Why {Dryad Militant} over {Soldier of the Pantheon}? Just because Dryad is hybrid?

Ohhh good call I agree with this!

Yes, hybrid is what I'm looking for. I've already done the White Weenie deal and I'm seeing a few of these suggestions spilling over into that category. I'm trying to stay away from that.

If you go with Pantheon I suggest -2 Overgrown Tombs +2 Godless Shrines

I seem to post this on every single deck I comment on (no seriously, go look and you will see it's true :P ) but what about {supreme verdict}? Seems like this deck won't have such a hard time with it but I don't really know. Maybe I'm overestimating the amount of control there will be in the format....

She plays {Rootborn Defenses} but that's never enough I suggest her SBing in {Golgari Charm}

I highly recommend {Obzedat, Ghost Council} + {Trostani, Selesnya's Voice} is awesome, and {Desecration Demon}s for days

If you'll refer to my original post, you'll see that I had Trostani in there originally. It's just hard to get the proper mana for her to be playable in a 3-color deck. And I also had {Desecration Demon} in as well, but I can't have everything that I want in a 60-card deck. I have to have everything I "need".
