Title: Token creatures
Post by: Jer123amy on January 04, 2014, 03:27:59 PM
Quick question. Played a card that gave me a 2/2 creature. Didn't attack with it, lost game. Was told after match that I could have attacked with creature because tokens are not affected by summoning sickness. Is this true? Could have won if true.

No unless its stated that the token has haste.

An easy thing to remember is if its a creature in its type IT HAS summoning sickness BUT if it has haste then it's not.

Examples:

{Lingering Souls} tokens are affected by sum. sick
{Thatcher Revolt} tokens aren't affected by sum. Sick.

Lol tokens are good cards there's easily removed but with cards like {Lingering Souls} they just add up.

A good Token deck goes T1 {Doomed Traveler} T2 {Intangible Virtue} T3 {Lingering Souls}!! It's feisty!!

Now what you can do (depending on the card) is cast the spell at the end of your opponents turn so the token is there during your upkeep. Things like {Advent of the Wurm} are often flashed in at EoT.

Tokens are great actually. Once they're on the field they have the threat of multiplying (populate). Give them that plus boosts like  {Collective Blessing} (using mana ramp) makes them almost unstoppable.

Uhh I thought ratchet bomb kills creatures by matching mana costs... tokens don't have mana costs

Exactly. They're considered to have a cost of zero, unless they're copies (à la {Progenitor Mimic}). Therefore, Ratbomb can tell most token decks to suck it

Damn I never knew that. I'm scared now. So much token hate in match ups.
