Title: Flickering Commanders
Post by: Langku on January 02, 2014, 05:48:18 PM
I've been researching what happens to commanders when the are exiled and returned to the battlefield and there seems to be a disagreement on google. Some claim that the wording "return from exile" precludes the commander's ability to return while others claim that the command zone replaces te exile zone... Frankly I'm not sure who to believe.

My question is this: I want to use both {sudden disappearance} and {flicker form} to protect {Uril the Mistwalker} and his attached auras from wrath, {magus of the disc}, etc. Does he come back to the battlefield from those or is he back in the command zone? And are there any other flicker cards that don't work?

When the commander changes zones to exile or graveyard it is a choice to put it back to command zone. You are not forced to

i think {flicker form} works but {sudden dissapearance} doesn't allow uril to keep wearing his enchantments. my reasoning is the ruling on {worldgorger dragon} on gathering about auras. it says if auras are entering at same time as other cards, they cant be attached to them upon entering.

Interesting point particle. I tend to agree especially since the wording on {flicker form} makes it a point to state that AFTER the flicker effect the auras return attached. Thanks both of you for your responses.
