Personally, on her own, Kiora is not the best planeswalker I've ever seen, but does have a lot of potential; all of course depending on what the rest of 'Born of the Gods' has to offer. With the right cards, she would be fantastic in either a Simic or Bant colors deck, and I would run with it, just so I could say "RELEASE THE KRAKEN(S)!!!"
It's there for ramp, because that ultimate will probable not go off.
It will be used mostly for the -1 {Explore} ability and maybe it's plus one. But the fact that it is so squishy makes it kind of an easy target.
Maybe now I can play some {Plasm Capture}s :D
I still like her a lot. That +1 is pretty helpful in a control deck. And the -1 is just bonkers. Land ramp, draw a card, and she's still alive, all available on the turn you play her? Seems pretty good to me.
Yeah, yeah, she has low loyalty and is easy to kill. I know. But she's control. Protect her counterspells and board wipes. She'll be fine.
I'm gonna put her in my laboratory maniac deck. That damage prevention and draw ability both look really enticing.
It's actually possible to ultimate her really quickly
T1: {Breeding Pool}, {Elvish Mystic}
T2: Island, {vorel of the hull clade}
T3: forest, Kiora, +1 her
T4: land, use vorels ability, double kioras counters, -5 her, and you get a 9/9 and she stays alive

EXCEPT VORELS ABILITY DOESNT AFFECT PLANESWALKERS

Fixed
I just wish you could prevent damage from a named source instead of having to target the creature. If you could just name a source, you could shut down Aetherling.

How would that help? It says you can't choose mana abilities... Am I missing something?

Mana Abilities are like {Elvish Mystic} :P all of {AEtherlings} abilities are just simple activated and therefore can't be activated if you play PN naming AEtherling
