I've been wanting to use dark depths for a while and I thought to myself why not try and make it a legacy deck. What do you guys and gals think

{Thespian's Stage}

I was thinking about it but after play testing I consistently get the 20/20 out turn one or two if the opponent doesn't  {Force of Will} to break the combo. If he does just keep going until the combo is meet.

I'm pretty sure T1 is impossible, T2 is feasible though. Still, it's a great card.

Turn 1
{dark depths}
{lotus petal}
Sac for a black
{dark ritual}
{vampire hexmage}
Sac to remove all the counters
Profit.
That's not very likely :P

But it's not impossible
It's in no way consistent, like he said :P

The amount of times I've play tested it I get turn one frequently. It's not every one but there are maybe combinations to get both hexmage and dark depths out turn one

I would at least recommend some sideboard space for discard like cabal therapy, so you aren't just dead to {Swords to Plowshares}.

However, you will be at 40 life after a swords to plowshares.... Giving you a bit of time to find another dark depths.

True. I think I will get cabal therapy or something to discard in the side board. Maybe  {Duress} because I'm not as worried about creatures as I am instants and sorc

You should have a little anti  {Stifle} tech in there. This is a known combo and people do play stifle for other reasons... Fetch kills and the like. Also I see {path to exile} is an insta win against you, as well as a lot of land destruction. I also agree with the {thespian's stage} option as it gives you 4 more combo pieces to play with. Since the deck is tuned to win turn 3 anyway it seems good to include. Also, beware of  {Rishadan Port} permanently tapping stages and things.

TL dr, the deck seems fragile in my meta, but also seems far more fun to play.

Also checked, and  {Vampiric Tutor} is a thing that could help, as well.

Not legal in legacy I don't think.

This is my first attempt at legacy. I've wanted to use dark depths in a legal deck for so long and after seeing a few legacy decks try for a turn one win I wanted to see if I could do that with dark depths

I think dark depths is too fragile to be run by itself, but it fits nicely as a win-con for decks that run {Knight of the Reliquary}, as well as lands.dec

I definitely don't mean to be harsh. I just made a similar mistake when I got into legacy, and want to make sure you don't do the same thing.

Oh no offense taken. When it comes I magic I still don't know everything. I started when M13 came out so I still have lots to learn for legacy and even modern

I would suggest trying modern before legacy than. It is cheaper,  has easier to find staples, and there is no reserve list for any cards. The combo decks are less degenerate than the OTK standard of legacy, and it has a less steep learning curve because of that.
