Title: Them sleeves, they evil
Post by: Galabranth on December 31, 2013, 11:15:54 PM
So I just got white Ultra-Pros (Japanese) with glossy backs. Lo and behold three days later about seven of them split into nonbeing. Anything like this happened to you guys? Newly bought sleeves that split I mean. Was shuffling them during a game them BAM! Major let down. Now I got White Pro-Matte Ultra-Pros. Scared to open them though.

Also what are good sleeves? The shops I go to only have Ultra-Pros and FF.

Dragon shield broham. They're a few bucks more, but so worth it. I've bought 10 packs(1000 sleeves) and not one of them has split.

I dont like the dragon shields because the edges have rough cut. I like the kmc hyper mats personally. Ive tried legion as well but I think theyre better for edh than regular constructed formats.

I've never tried kmc. How many sleeves come in a pack?

80. Usually about 7-9 bucks. A little pricey but thats what I throw in my constructed decks.

Kmc is just genetically good. Dragon shields used to be good before they were sold to a new maker. The UltraPro Mattes aren't bad either.

I rock the DragonShield in my cube. I used to swear by them, but they get ugly quick. I use KMC products now, they're cut evenly, durable (perhaps a slight bit less) and show my foils well. I'd never use another Ultra Pro product again.

You can split an ultra pro sleeve by calling it names...

White matte ultra pros were the first sleeves I ever bought and they're still going strong today. The only trouble I've had is with the ultra pro gloss sleeves with  {Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver} on. They're going to break soon so I'll go back to UP matte.

Ultra Pro is 💩 IMO. I've recently switched to KMC pearl whites. Diggin' 'em so far. Was going to get 2 packs of the hyper mattes, but $30 on sleeves is too much. Outrageous shipping on those...
