Title: Quicksilver
Post by: Destore117 on December 30, 2013, 09:50:56 PM
{quicksilver amulet} + {progenitus} + { {Fires of Yavimaya}
Fires T3
Amulet T4 to play progenitus and swing
T5 swing to win.

If people start using quicksilver for stuff like this I can picture it getting banned xD

That's a pretty mean combo, haha. But it would swing for the win on turn 6...

T3 fires
T4 Cast quicksilver for 4 mana
T5 Pay 4 and {T} quicksilver for Progenitus, swing
T6, swing for win.

Great combo, but 6 turns is a long time for your opponent to get something going the other way.

Even if they get something, what stands in front of progenitors when protection walks around them, you would have to destroy the quickie...

That's the thing though its Turn 5 to play and swing. I don't play Modern but I feel like its too slow

It runs green, it is more than acceptable to expect mana ramp in either turn 1 or 2.

Is thoughtsieze that common? Cuz it seems rather pricey but I'm not saying this combo doesn't have flaws. Was just a good synergy of cards.

Oh no doubt it is! It's a really cool combo!! And I think that Thoughtseizes are very common in Modern

Well that is rather annoying...I figured something around 15-40$ might not be that common :/

Look at Tron decks - playsets of {Karn Liberated}. Or between 5-8 fetch lands.

Modern isn't cheap, and Legacy is worse.

A normal player that has a deck that can beat most of his thinks about going competitive, however, in order to compete at a competitive level you need a deck that requires a heafty drop of cash, look up a tourney deck that won recently and see what the total price tag is, I have seen some as cheap as mid 200s...

I ran into this a while back that though I had a good deck I was a big fish in a little pond and I got tore up at an event. What is uncommon or rare to see in your play group is a playlet/staple for these guys that compete at the professional level. There is a card that we have seen one of once? They have 4 in their deck and it's no biggy to them.

True but not there's inexpensive Modern decks. Storm is about $150 and Soul Sisters is like $50-$60 and both are competitive. They rarely win tourneys but I hear that they do fairly well. Also URx Delver can be fairly cheap or fairly expensive depending on what route you want

T1 Forest {birds of paradise}
T2 Mountain {arbor elf} + {Fires of Yavimaya} (forest + bird + mountain)
T3 forest {quicksilver amulet}
T4 Progenitus swing
T5 win

Happy?!

We can go faster :)

T1 Overgrown Tomb/Bayou - mana elf
T2 Play Stomping Ground/Taiga - tap for black mana for dark ritual. Tap Taiga for Forest, another mana dork.
Tap mana dork 1 and use 3 floating black for quicksilver amulet
T3 Progenitius + Concordant crossroads, swing
T4 swing again

Trying to figure out how to add double strike to progen for t3 kill

{Fires of Yavimaya} doesn't target, so {Progenitus} will have haste.

My angel deck has 4 quickies in it for just that reason, nothing says go to hell like T5 Avacyn and T6 Iona
