Title: Why not? It's tradition.
Post by: Taysby on December 26, 2013, 11:32:42 AM
Could the new kiora =JtMS?

I don't think so,but it does protect itself extremely well, and helps you ramp and draw, and that emblem...  Mainly I did it just because it seems to be a tradition with all the new walkers.  At the very least, could it turn into a standard JtMS where everyone in standard runs her?

Maybe if you could target herself with the +1 but alas you may not... And also it is much less versatile with it being {U}{G}... So no, def. not... But I do love the card!

But how about just in standard?

I agree that it will be a strong card, and I will be playing it, but no I don't think it has the "king of pop" status like JTMS

Why does not being able to target herself matter?

Think people are reading her as "target permanent will not receive damage"

Preventing damage means she would only be vulnerable to murderbore.
Ah, gotcha. I don't think it's that big a deal - yes she's vulnerable to burn but I don't see that as too big of a problem. I'm looking forward to her.

There will never be another JTMS. They learned their lesson about overpowering Planeswalker to comically absurd +'s and 0's.

Now if Kiora's -1 were a +1 or a 0, then I'd be singing a different tune.

She's great, absolutely, but my advice is to stop looking for mind sculptor v2 ;)

I think she's almost three fourths as good at most buuut she is a good combo player so she's more playable in my eyes (really because she's not banned in anything lol)

Honestly, I don't see much playability outside of {maze end} decks.  T4 dropping a PW with 2 loyalty is not great.  Don't get me wrong I'm throwing 2 in my maze deck, but aside from that, I see no competitive play.
