I'm new to magic and have a question about nighthawk. If he has death touch and gains life for damage done. The question is this : if I'm playing against my friend with a pumped up cryptborn and it is a 15/15 would I gain 15 lives because in reality my nighthawk would be doing 15 damage to destroy the cryptborn am I wrong in thinking this. If so please explain why. Seems like damage done would be whatever target creature needs to destroy it
{Vampire Nighthawk} only deals damage equal to its power. That's how much life you gain, no matter how big the thing he kills might be.
This is because of the way Deathtouch works - Deathtouch doesn't change the amount of damage done, it just adds a special ability that says "any creature that takes 1 or more damage from this Deathtouch source is considered to have been hit for a lethal amount," essentially.
Ok thanks trying to figure out how these work
