Title: Deathtouch
Post by: Blazingblevins on December 24, 2013, 04:22:50 AM
Say I have a 3/3 {fleecemane lion} I block a 5/5 {advent of the wurm}, in response I cast {ready // willing}, using willing side, giving my {fleecemane lion} deathtouch.  I know the advent dies, but does the {fleecemane lion} die since it only takes 1 damage to kill using deathtouch?

Or would I have to block with a creature with first strike, say a 2/2 {fienslayer paladin}, giving my {fiendslayer paladin} deathtouch with {ready // willing}, willing side?

First strike damage is all dealt simotaniously. Damage modifiers like deathtouch and lifelink are applied.

Normal combat damage is dealt and modifiers are applied.

In your fleece example both would die since inorder to do damage with deathtouch the wurm must also be allowed to dealt damage.

In your fiendslayer example the wurm doesnt get a chance to deal damage as deathtouch damage has already killed it.

You missed an n when explaining the wurm example. Just wanted to point that out because it sorta changes the meaning of the whole answer there ;). The wurm doesn't get a chance to deal combat damage.

They both would die in the fleece mane example as all damage is dealt simultaneously.
In the fiendslayer example the wurm dies in the first strike damage step and the paladin is left Alive as he is not dealt damage

One more question. I was wondering about redirection of damage to planeswalkers. How can they redirect damge to planeswalkers instead of me with burn?
