Fnm like? I have yet to go to mine but I imagine it with rainbow unicorns!
Well, to be honest, there were a variety of colors in my first FNM, since there were random my little pony toys on the ground (my local card shop is so random xD) I had an awesome time, I was shaking horribly though! Lol:P
Haha I am going to 2 of them Friday! One at 3 and the other at 7
Awesome! Good luck!
I got my ass wiped at my first FNM. Then I started going more frequently and now I usually finish 3-2
Iu sualy finish every single time i play all losses FML
My first FNM I actually did pretty good. At least better than expected. I had been working on a BR goblins deck, straight burn and little goblin bastards. The guys at Yellow Jacket helped me out quite a bit, what a great shop. FNM was a little crazy, packed house, trades going on like crazy, wicked good times. Then we went out to the bar for beers... Man I miss that

You got your ass
wiped? ??? 💩👍
Yellow Jacket is downtown Victoria BC
I will be sure to go there when I next visit!! Come on Jest!! You've got to know where the Yellow Jacket is! I mean it's in Canada after all. Jeez what do you live under? A rock? Anywho...
My first was terrifying!! Cuz it was also a pre-release tourney. It was also my first draft, at a place I had never been to. Then I went down to Deleware and hung out with my friend there who showed me the ropes. I'm not so scared anymore because I can usually hold my own. :)
Haven't you heard? We Canadians travel all the time, we just never visit our own country. ✈
Besides, I'm a busy Jester. I rarely even see the local card places anymore. 😭
My friend brought me to my first FNM, draft as always in that shop. I ended up drafting dinos because they looked cool. I finished 1-3, my only win against the friend that brought me. {Scrapdiver Serpent} all the way baby!

Aww you poor thing! And now that you say it... I've met more Canadians when I visited and lived abroad in Central & South America than anyone else. I think it's cuz if they didn't travel, then they would freeze to death in their igloos. Isn't that right Jest?

We do get around. Igloos are surprisingly warm.
Me, I keep my lair well thermally regulated. Otherwise some of my experiments could go exothermic. 🔥
I honestly can't keep a straight face BSing with you anymore Jest.
Pffft-hahHAhaHAhaha!!!!

I like the fact that you think I'm BSing. You'll be less suspecting when my nefarious plans come to fruition. 👿
Actually... I'm not sure I'd be all that surprised. :P Well maybe... cuz I didn't think a Canuck would have had it in him! At least I'd be surprised you survived the Polar Bears for long enough to carry it out.

Bah! SURVIVED polar bears, who do you think I'm augmenting with plasma-launchers? Certainly not moose! They have a bad attitude. 😠
It's true. =( they do. If they didn't have such large racks then maybe they wouldn't think so much of themselves. I mean atleast deer have the dignity to die if you crash into them! But what about the majestic and elusive Canada goose? Now wouldn't that be a prime specimen!
This topic is now aboot Canada

You're right. I have a very bad habit for derailing a thread. My bad!
I have yet to attend a FNM. 👍 Back on track, eh?

Hahaha
There is a Canadian thread a ways back. It also had to do with whether or not Black is the same as colorless. 😏
My first FNM was way back mid nineties. I went in all guns blazing with a Mirage block 💀🔥 DESTORY ALL THE THINGS deck. Quite confidently in fact and absolutely schooled in every way by a couple of 🌟💙 controls. I did not return for months.

Large rack......you got my attention now!!!
Haha JK
My first FNM was when the Zen block was new. I built a mon red goblin, cuz the guide is awsome. I placed 5th. Got knocked out of top 8 by that mono red speed deck that was so popular. The that was using {Ball Lightning} and {Hellspark Elemental}s. That sucked, because the guy mulliganed down to 1 card both games. That's right he beat me 2-0 both times starting with 1 card. FML

I would not have admitted that lol.
First FNM was with a white black human sacrifice deck right after dark ascencion came out
Still haven't done one...😪
Hoo boy, my first FNM was a doozy. It was a draft (as always. Love drafts). M12 had just come out. My first pack? 2 planeswalkers. Chandra and foil Garruk. I laugh, Inform the person on my left that even though it's my first draft, I'm not a total idiot for passing him a planeswalker. I show him foil Garruk, and congratulate him on his free Chandra.
And to top it all off, no one in the pod was drafting green. I ended up with a solid mono green deck, taking 3rd place out of 28 people.
I highly recommend fnm drafting to anyone on the fence about going. You meet some great people, and have good times. I look forward to it every week.
Does FNM have an entry cost?

Does FNM have an entry cost?
It depends on the place running it and the type of game. For example the store I go to runs 2 FNMs each Friday - a standard with a free entry, and a draft with a $12 entry (the cost of the 3 packs, plus a couple bucks for prize pool basically)

I think it depends on what they do for FNM
I've seen free ones where you bring your own deck and only win a few boosters. I've seen where you bring your own deck and pay $6 and it's a good amount of boosters to win.
I've seen drafts (3packs) for anywhere from $12-16 and sealed events (6packs) for $25. These both had decent rewards.
Got first place with wolf ramp, and then pulled a Garruk, relentless in one of my packs. It was pretty cool.
