Title: Double strike blocking
Post by: Destore117 on December 17, 2013, 09:59:46 AM
I've probably already asked this but anyways. Does blocking with first strike deal damage to your opponent if the creature it is blocking is destroyed? Just wanted to be sure.

Sorry I meant to say double strike.
But anyways

You should take a look at the FAQ ;). To answer briefly, no.

I am confused as well, since the title is double strike but in here you ask about first strike.

Regardless of double or first strike, the defense phase is used to deem certain attacking creatures as "blocked." For a creature without trample, there's no way around the fact that being blocked means not dealing damage to the opponent's life total

("No way" might not be strictly true, but that's the gist)

It's about first strike because double strike deals both first strike and normal.

If in the first strike damage step. You kill a creature without first strike that you're blocking. Will the second strike (normal combat damage) go to your opponent?

That will only happen if the attacking creature has trample. If it doesn't, it is already considered blocked and does no further damage.
