Title: Choose your game!
Post by: Ieatfood7 on December 14, 2013, 06:41:01 PM
Modern, edh, standard?

Competitive, casual, both?

You want to draw first or play first?

Modern, I'll play.

Competitive (I'll use a pod deck).

Hey. I can't start now unfortunately, but if you are ok for a sort of drawn out game, I have a home brew I've been wanting to try.

If you would rather play against a tested modern deck, I saw a couple lists online I wanted to try that look well tested.

{Windswept Heath} is not modern legal...
Title: Re: Choose your game!
Post by: Ieatfood7 on December 15, 2013, 12:34:38 PM
Ok. I am super embarrassed. I don't ever play modern in the real world, hence not having a well tuned deck on hand, so I a wasnt thinking when I typed up the deck lost online. I checked and the only non-modern cards in my list are {windswept Heath} x4 and {wooded foothills} x4

Three options:

One, we keep playing, when I draw eithe rod those cards, I instead draw {salt flats} or {misty rainforest} or whatever, this is a WGR deck, so removing those eight old cards and adding two each of the UR, UG, WB, and BG works with almost no change to gameplay (this time for example, I preferred the WG shock land, but I will assume the "worst" and instead draw the UR fetch, and I will get {sacred foundry} instead of {temple garden}.

Two: I fix my deck and reshuffle

Three: I use a different list that I saw online last week.

Which do you prefer?  Sorry again. :/

Don't worry about it, it happens. :)

I vote replace them with {marsh flats} & {misty rainforest} (or whatever you want to) and reshuffle

Take the 8. Strongly consider scooping. ;). Draw a land. Decide to scoop. Gg. +1. I'd love to play again, I can play this again if you like, or I can grab an actually good one. My go to good one was eggs, but they needed that hard.

Post by: Ieatfood7 on December 16, 2013, 03:07:37 PM
Ok. Your turn.

If you are interested after this, I found a weird modern deck that went 4-0 at a recent event that I wanted to test. Its interesting but I worry its too slow.
Title: Re: Choose your game!
Post by: abstractApathist on December 16, 2013, 03:13:34 PM
You're playing weird storm, right? I think it's cool, but too easy to take out.

It's actually your turn. :)
Title: Re: Choose your game!
Post by: Ieatfood7 on December 16, 2013, 03:18:46 PM
Yup. And having never played it against a person before, I see why it fails.

I just took my turn, drew a bunch of cards, and no second weird. Scoop and new game with different deck? Or you want me to finish? I feel like I havnt given you any challenges yet.
Title: Re: Choose your game!
Post by: abstractApathist on December 16, 2013, 03:47:31 PM
I understand if you wanna scoop. So far it does seem like my Melira-Pod has been crushing, so feel free to take out any deck that you feel can face it.
Title: Re: Choose your game!
Post by: Ieatfood7 on December 16, 2013, 03:53:15 PM
Well, I'm gonna try this combo deck I found on mtg daily this week.

I think that combo may be too slow with decks like yours in the format, but they are interesting, and usually more budget friendly.

Ok. I scoop. New game. I will go first and keep opening hand.

Island. {serum visions}. Draw, scry 2 and put back in opposite order. Pass.

20/6

Edit: this may be the decks nut draw, and that doesn't mean t3 win or anything, but its strong enough that if the deck doesn't work to his time I may give up on it.
Title: Re: Choose your game!
Post by: abstractApathist on December 16, 2013, 03:56:17 PM
Well my deck is technically combo, although usually it brings the beats. :P

Ok T1:Shock an {overgrown tomb} into {avacyn's pilgrim}, pass

{cryptic command} to counter the kitchen finks and to bounce the birthing pod back to your hand. Does that change what you do at the end of your turn?

nah it's cool you've clearly combo'd off. Thanks for the great games!
Title: Re: Choose your game!
Post by: Ieatfood7 on December 16, 2013, 04:46:57 PM
Same to you. I'm happy to play more, and would be happy to find a a nice, friendly modern aggro deck to play. I feel like except for the game with slivers, we didn't really interact this game.
Title: Re: Choose your game!
Post by: abstractApathist on December 16, 2013, 04:56:35 PM
Okay, I'd be up for one last game :)

I'll go first

20/5
Title: Re: Choose your game!

You want me to use that deck again? Or find an aggro deck?  I could always try slivers again, though I expect only slightly better performance next time.

Anything you want to use is fine, although I'd prefer to face the aggro deck. Your choice should come first, however.

Gg!  My deck went well, and just can't keep up. If you want to test against a good deck, I just found two affinity decks and combined them. Maybe we play that tomorrow.
Title: Re: Choose your game!
Post by: abstractApathist on December 16, 2013, 07:11:48 PM
Actually I'm leaving for a vacation tomorrow and won't have internet access for a while. I'd love to play again sometime when I get back though!
Title: Re: Choose your game!
Post by: Ieatfood7 on December 16, 2013, 07:48:36 PM
Sounds good. Your deck is pretty sick though. :). I wonder if that howling mine deck can beat you when it doesn't have a crazy perfect opening. Seriously. Turn two howling mine, turn three miracled time walk. :). I'll shoot you a PM so you can find me easy when you are online again.

Maybe I'll play the affinity then, or maybe we will play edh or something.

Title: Re: Choose your game!
Post by: Ieatfood7 on December 20, 2013, 08:53:19 PM
Ahh yeah. I'm at 18. And I assume you attacked me and not jace, correct?

Also, I have three lands, and at the start of your turn you already had three lands. Knight of the white orchard only triggers if I have more lands than you, right?  If that changes your play, let me know.

Also, please indicate when you use your cavern of souls to make a creature uncounterable. If you don't say so (or say you are tapping out) I will proceed with the assumption that it is counter able.
Title: Re: Choose your game!

Title: Re: Choose your game!
Post by: Ieatfood7 on December 21, 2013, 11:00:09 AM

Sure. I can't link it easily, but google Tappedout Ieatfood7 and find the Howling Warp deck. It's named after the guy who have me the idea (I only made a few changes from his deck list).

Game two?  Also, any suggestions on improvements are welcome.
