Because of the vast differences involved and the fact that duel commander is growing in popularity I suggest that duel commander be made distinctly separate from the traditional commander section.
There are several reasons for this, mainly the separate deck lists and strategies involved change the manner of discussion that would be had.
also it should be noted that there is a different ban list maintained for each format and it would be nice if the legalities section showed which it was legal for.
I would be interested in helping in the duel commander section as much as possible.
What are the differences?
Well, there are several differences.
1. Instead of 40 life, duel commander starts at 30 life.
2. The ban list. ( for example: prime time is banned in multiplayer and not in duel)
3. Deck construction (therefore posting tips and suggestions and the type of conversation in order to be relevant)
4. Competitive vs. casual (1v1 is generally considered as more competitive and tournaments are going more in the direction of 1v1)
Just a few to start. I can share more info as this is what I am currently focused on in my mtg time :)
What is duel commander ?
Duel commander is the official 1v1 variant of traditional commander.
It originated in France, which is why to some is still refer to their rules as "French" edh...
It is getting a huge tournament following and it is my opinion that as far as competitive edh goes, duel commander is the future.
Oh right, yes, I've played French Comps before! Different rules, much competitive, I'd almost say harder... which, like video games, often means more fun too.
