Title: Bent Foils
Post by: Lyriczulu on December 12, 2013, 02:52:07 PM
Hey, what do you guys do to fix bent foils? I got some duel deck {Ajani Vengeant}s recently because they're like half the price of the normal one and 1 of them is quite bent due to the foil (I assume). I've heard double sleeving them helps, I tried putting them under some heavy textbooks for a while but it didn't really help.

Yeah, mine were definitely curved, I don't mind that so much though since it doesn't get shuffled into a deck. The 1 foil of mine that is quite bent is bent enough you can pick it out of a deck.

Just bend them the other way until it equalizes.
This is what I do. Foils tend to curl under extreme weather. Thankfully MTG cards are flexible :D

I just gently bend them back. It's not like they're going to snap in half, anyway.

For me it depends on how badly bent they are. I've received cards from online purchases that have come in hella bent. If I can't bend them back I usually put a sleeve on them, place them between a white piece of paper then set one of my short boxes on top over night. That usually fixes the problem.

All my ftv20 foils were individually put into ultrapro hard sleeves and now they are straight enough to put into regular ones.  Hope this helps

Profit penny sleeves with a more sturdy sleeve like a dragonshield usually does the trick. Just remember that different foiling processes react differently to different humidities and depeding where the card was made and it's clinate difference your sealed products may be very curved.

The most curve you can get today is for special event foiling like fnm promos, ftv, and other limited run products.

Foils used for new sets like theros dont curve but lack that luster offered by event foils.

If you think that's bad, try some of the original foils. Pretty much the reason why I hate foils now. Give them enough time, and they will completely curl over on themselves

Bend then the opposite way. Carefully! I've done it with plenty including the ftv foils which are more prone to bending. Works every time. Nice and flat.
