Title: Borborygmos Enraged
Post by: Avodroc13 on December 12, 2013, 07:32:58 AM
{Borborygmos Enraged} states "Discard a land: Borborygmos Enraged DEALS 3 damage TO TARGET creature or PLAYER."

The first part of the card reads "Whenever Borborygmos Enraged DEALS combat damage to a player, reveal the top 3 cards...." Etc.

If I were to discard a land on my opponent's turn, to deal 3 damage to him, would I reveal 3 cards from my library?
To further that, if I revealed another land, despite how many, could I discard the land I just revealed (that was put into my hand) to start the ability all over.
1. Discard land, deal 3 damage to player with Borborygmos Enraged.
2. Reveal 3 cards and put all land in my hand.
3. IF I got a land, (which I usually do get one) discard it and start back over from 1.

You bolded the wrong word. It should be "Whenever {Borborygmos Enraged} deals COMBAT damage..."

This means that this ability only triggers after the combat damage step, nowhere else.

No. Discarding a card to deal damage is effect damage, not combat damage. Combat damage only occurs during combat.

In answer to you initial question, this cycle can't happen because you need to deal combat damage for the effect to trigger, where as discarding a land deals direct damage.
