Title: Green suns zenith
Post by: Redrighthand on December 11, 2013, 06:35:39 PM
Do creature's brought into play by  {Green Sun's Zenith} have summoning sickness if they don't have haste?  An official ruling would be nice if available. Try to solve a discussion.  Thanks!

Yes.

302.6: A creature's activated ability with the tap symbol or the untap symbol in its activation cost can't be activated unless the creature has been under its controller's control continuously since his or her most recent turn began. A creature can't attack unless it has been under its controller's control continuously since his or her most recent turn began. This rule is informally called the "summoning sickness" rule.

What that's saying is that what matters is if the creature's been under your control since the beginning of the turn, and not how the creature was placed onto the battlefield.

Thanks very much! He was trying to argue that if a creature was "put into play" as opposed to "played from hand" or "put onto the battlefield" then it wouldn't have summoning sickness. He was trying to say that the different wording had a differing effect.

Summoning sickness will also apply to creatures that change controllers, no matter how long they've been on the BF. There is a reason that most steal creature spells give the target haste until the end of turn.
