Title: when you decide to buy
Post by: DirtyMustachio on December 10, 2013, 10:41:53 AM
Where do you guys buy, when you've hit that standstill in trading online and at lgs?

Usually I go ebay and troll and toad.

Am I wrong. Should I be buying straight from tcgplayers links?

I do tcg personally. Since it gives you tons of places to buy from, you can compare quality/price/shipping costs all right there

I like card kingdom, beautiful delivery times (four days for me) but sometimes their selection is a little thin, amazon can be very nice too they have a tendency to be cheaper especially when looking for foils.

I usually go with SCG. I know that there are cheaper places out there but I really trust the condition they say their cards are in.

For singles I use eBay. For sealed I used to do cardkingdom or alterealitygames. Both were goodbut their prices jumped.

For singles I also use ebay. It has worked great for me. For sealed I would check if any of your LGSs around have point systems, like whenever you spend 10 bucks you get a point, and if you get 10 points you get a 10 buck gift card. I know some of them do that, like the one I went to in Illinois before I moved.

Yeah I primarily meant singles.

My shop does 7packs for 20 $

I can't find anyone that really tops that

I usually buy from eBay and Comic Asylum here in dallas, their cards are cheaper online surprisingly. Troll and Toads is pretty expensive compared to a lot of other places.

I mainly sell to and buy from abugames.com. They have a huge selection, and selling to them is really easy. They also many rare items for everyone out there with extra money.

Check ebay and here, but don't be afraid to troll the internet for other options. The biggest thing is to decide what you deem to be fair value for you at trading price vs buy price.

Remember even on this app you have to check other prices too. I will give you an example.

{Bloodline Keeper} on here has a low mid value(ie trade value) this is less than the buying price most places. So if forced to buy such a card, make sure you get value back out of it. Basically if you have to buy a card, make sure if you ever trade it your able to get current value for it, not just mid value. Take everything into consideration. I am of the mind set that you should be buying cards close or under the low end and trading at mid value, however sometimes the mid value is too low to be trading at. I hope this makes sense. It is definitely one of those topics that might be easier to show or explain in person, lol. Good luck.

Glad I made this thread!

I do too. Plus when you buy from there, you support Reid Duke!

I'm a big fan of ChannelFireball.com. You can usually get some good prices there. I typically browse it and amazon for singles, and compare prices. My ChannelFireball cart ends up with a lot more in it.

I do like to support my lgs though, and like to buy from there even if it's a little more expensive when I only need 1-5 cards. And sleeves. I've bought so many sleeves.

Sleeves are my addiction. I buy new sleeves every time I go to my lgs. Lgs prices are always slightly higher but it is nice to walk in and be called by name by the owner.

European sites like magiccardmarket.eu and magicmadhouse.com are good. I've bought a lot of cards from the latter and the prices and delivery time is awesome.

Not useful for USA players but if shipping costs arnt too high you might get some good deals.

I recently used ebay to buy 4  {Snapcaster Mage} for £12 each which is £6 cheaper than the current UK price so I've also started looking on ebay for some singles too.

I use TCG like a fiend once I can't get anything thru my lgs or trade.
Lately I've been buying any shocks that are less than $6 to complete my collection of playsets. Shipping can be daunting from some TCG stores, so I prefer to find the lowest prices and then browsing the store exclusively. Usually they sell a few shocks around $6, so I just buy em all.

Recently acquired

Overgrown tomb $5.5
Blood Crypt - $5
Hallowed Fountain x3 -$6.31 each
Breeding Pool $5.75
Ashiok - $8

I also eBay randomly and end up buying steals

Altar of dementia - $1.75
Storm breath dragon - $12

I dropped about 110 $ on cards last night for edh and a few specifics I think I ran the majority of it through channel fireball like gorzo mentioned

Honestly they have all been great. The cards had no imprints or scuffs. If a seller on TCG stiffs you in condition when they say its near mint, you can communicate with them.

TCG protects buyers very well imo

I have about 15 cards purchased from various eBay sellers coming in this week. I've bought a handful of cards at the LGS, and I've placed several orders at StarCity.

Pretty much wherever I feel like buying from at the time.

I usually use Tcg and Scg, but I've kinda been liking trollandtoad recently. Scg is probably my favorite, despite being overpriced. They just seem more reliable. I had an order from Tcg come in with the card sticking halfway out of the top loader. Scg has always had great shipping.

Yeah since shocks are so low right now I usually jump to TCG If they are listed at $6.50 or less or lows and buy away
