So I love playing GR Tron in Modern.
Here's the list:
Creatures (4)
3 {Wurmcoil Engine}
1 {Emrakul, the Aeons Torn}
Planeswalkers (4)
4 {Karn Liberated}
Lands (20)
1 {Forest}
1 {Ghost Quarter}
4 {Grove of the Burnwillows}
1 {Llanowar Wastes}
4 {Urza's Mine}
4 {Urza's Power Plant}
4 {Urza's Tower}
1 {Eye of Ugin}
Spells (32)
4 {Chromatic Sphere}
4 {Chromatic Star}
4 {Expedition Map}
4 {Oblivion Stone}
4 {Relic of progenitus}
4 {Ancient Stirrings}
4 {Pyroclasm}
4 {Sylvan Scrying}
Sideboard
3 {Torpor Orb}
2 {Spellskite}
1 {Wurmcoil Engine}
3 {Combust}
3 {Nature's Claim}
3 {Slaughter Games}
.... That list is Cedric Phiilips' PTQ 3rd place decklist. It's almost identical to wha tai play... But I get tempted by the mono blue list (see below) when I get bummed about getting beaten by uwr control, or rug delver, with all the counter magic.
But I've been thinking. It would be cool (competitive?) to try and run a list with {possessed portal} and maybe {spine of ish sah}. Does anyone have thoughts or comments on the decks, or my random thought to try something different? I saw the benefits of spine/portal as a soft lock to stop card draw and wipe my opponents resources. The spine plus wurmcoil can generate greater quantities of saccable permanents than my opponent should have....
P.s. I also main board 2 {city of brass} so I can board into 4x {swan song} to beat {sowing salts} as well as counter magic... It's even good in the mirror. I feel it's faster than {slaughter games} especially if I am on the draw.
