Public education is not good for everyone.

Nice way to celebrate 10,000 posts in this discussion section. Since I can't seem to watch the video can you explain what this 13 year old did?
I just watched that very TED talk the other day. Cool kid. I wish the video had mentioned something about how kids from that program measure up to public schools though.
^^he spoke about how his parents pulled him out of public education and entered him in a program loosely based on some guys 8 principles of happiness. On top of studies in math, science, and such, he spends a lot of time outdoors and is spending a lot of time directly in a real-world context.

Thank you
Even though I'm still relatively young (I'm 20) I've said this for awhile! Like in HS I hated class math was boring History was AWFUL and gym was the only good class. I'm now in 3rd year University my 1st 2 years I studied Business and liked it but I took a History course as an elective. Now in 3rd year I'm in an Honors Spec. In History and I love it!! Tell that to HS me and I'd laugh but in HS I never enjoyed history yet now it's becoming a passion of mine. There needs to be something done to the Education system!!

Difficult to measure happiness ;)
i absolutely and utterly detested my last high school, now that i'm in a private college prep school, there is a definite difference and i am much happier getting up and going to school each day :)

You just need to find people to play magic with before school, and during lunch and all of a sudden high school is a blast. ;)
...and during class, after school, between classes... ;)
