Title: Aura
Post by: FlickerYourOwnIdentity on December 05, 2013, 10:58:02 AM
Do you think this stuff exists, and if you do why?  I had someone read mine recently, and it was scary how described me perfectly. 0_0

Hold a magazine in front of your face and ask if he can still see the aura above your head.  He will say of course.  Then stand behind a wall just barely taller than you and have him locate where you are behind it because he can still "see" your aura.

That will prove that he's just b.s.ing it.
To be fair, he can still se your aura if they look at any part of your body.  Aura is considered to be an essence that surrounds your whole body.  You don't have to look at someones face to see aura.

Aura has actually been measured in laboratory settings

perhaps they had a degree in psychology and know how to read a person based on their mannerisms, appearance, and personalities. how you do everyday things and what you wear say alot about you after all.

I've read that the human body, like all living things gives off a small electrical discharge. This is considered to an aura by some. It can be measured in a lab as stated above, but it's doubtful that some can actually see it.

This
First you need to define what an aura is which will no doubt mean it ceases being referred to as such.
Then explain how it falls into a visible spectrum or how someone has managed to acquire a sight or sense otherwise that can detect it.
Then you would have to explain what indicators of "aura" are indicative of certain traits, something that couldn't be done without extensive experimentation (which would have brought a recognition to the practice it clearly doesn't have) or some sort of supernatural intervention (which is generally entirely groundless)

Flicker, what things did the person say to describe you? It's no doubt in line with how horoscopes work.

Sounds to me like you guys are a huge bunch of skeptics. I'm not saying I believe people can see it, but I'm open minded enough to see it as a possibility.

Also, the terminology behind "seeing an aura" is probably the same as feeling someone looking at you. Less sight and more "sight", Y'know?

Is it a possibility because you're open minded? :p

Oh no people simply tell you your color, and how prominent your aura is.  I never took it seriously, and then they gave me my color which is dark blue.  Which means that I am afraid of self expression, and the future.  Also means I care about others, regardless of their situation.  And I am terrified of the future, and self expression, I say things online that I would never say in front of friends and family because I am scared of losing acceptance.  Or I'll be thrown in a mental hospital (I have gotten brochures shoved in my locker).  I only have one friend I can actually express myself around.

But yeah I guess some people could say it's vague or that everyones afraid of the future, but that's just me.

You brought up suicidal so now I have to tell a story.

Way back when we got a paper at my school of how to find a suicidal person.  So I was looking over the paper, and I checked off everything that I had.  I checked off the whole damn sheet.  I went to my friends who had half of their paper checked off.

Apparently me and other suicidal people have a way of getting along.

There's a difference between being open-minded and being gullible.

Being skeptical is not the same as being closed-minded. If you can back up an assertion with some science and facts, I'm willing to believe it. I don't think it's closed-minded to disbelieve something when the only evidence for it is anecdotal and/or circumstantial.
