Title: What happens?
Post by: Destore117 on December 03, 2013, 11:05:15 PM
If I were to play {reverse the sands} when someone has a {Havoc festival} in play. Can I give myself more than one life? Or would that be considered life gain.

You're not gaining life, you're swapping a life total. Whatever your life total is, it's now his. Whatever his life total is, it's now yours.

I thought Reverse the sands made it so I could put all of their life on me and leave them at 1? Or is that wrong :/

117.5 if an effect sets a player's life total to a specific number, the player gains or loses the necessary amount of life to end up with the new total.

It's life gain or life lose no matter how a life change is worded.

You are redistributing, not changing.  It was just made for multiplayer use, so everyone's life total would change,  it is just like swapping, but for use with multiple players.
Oh! Thanks I didn't know that!

If your at 5 life and your opponent at 20, could you cast the sands to deal 15 damage to your opponent?

I don't think it'd be damage. I think it'd be life loss.

Ya this card sets life totals which is life gain/life loss. If it was damage there would be many ways to redirect it and would be funny. Although I do believe there are zero cards that redirect life loss
