Title: Cheap American Control
Post by: Agrus Kos, Enforcer of Truth on December 03, 2013, 11:03:39 PM
Something I threw together quick with the cards I have. Please make suggestions.  The idea here is to lock down the board long enough that I can get out my bombs: {Spark Trooper}s, {Aurelia, the Warleader} and {Prognostic Sphinx}. Life gain courtesy of {Spark Trooper} and {Warleader's Helix}.

Lands:
3   {Sacred Foundry}
4   {Hallowed Fountain}
4   {Steam Vents}
2   {Izzet Guildgate}
2   {Boros Guildgate}
5   {Mountain}
2   {Island}
2   {Plains}

Creatures:
4   {Spark Trooper}
4   {Frostburn Weird}
1   {Aurelia, the Warleader}
2   {Prognostic Sphinx}

11   Creatures

2   {Cyclonic Rift}
4   {Rapid Hybridization}
3   {Mizzium Mortars}
1   {Supreme Verdict}
4   {Warleader's Helix}
3   {Chained to the Rocks}
3   {Searing Spear}
4   {Syncopate}
1   {Detention Sphere}

Any particular reason why? I run a cheap izzet control deck, and Aetherling is the best way to win if your opponent is sporting removal that got backed up in their hand from the lack of creatures you play that they can remove.

Perhaps it's because you got beaten with it too many times? Because it IS THAT good :p play with it, and see if maybe you actually LOVE him : p

For the longest time I HATED control. I played Aggro/Midrange and it just stomped me. Eventually, I played control and turned out I loved it! Lol

Change searing spear to lightning strike
Another thing I refuse to do. {Lightning Strike} is just a reprint of {Searing Spear} but has a different name  because it was originally going to be a different card but was changed after the art was already done.

I don't know why, just don't like it. It's good, but I think it was over-played and I want this deck to be weird and unpredictable.
