Can you proliferate tokens on planeswalkers with {contagion engin}

No. Tokens can not exist on another permanent. You can however proliferate the counters on a planeswalker.

I read this and I'm thinking "tokens.. What tokens?"  Then I read the OP again and it makes sense.
