Title: Tooth&Nail
Post by: ApexPredator on December 01, 2013, 09:09:02 PM
Two part question here. If I have less than five devotion  can I cast {Tooth and Nail} for it's entwine cost to search and put {Purphoros, God of the Forge} on the battlefield? Also if I did cast for entwine and the answer to the above question is yes will the second creature cause purphoros to deal two damage?

Yes and yes.

First question: creatures only have abilities on the battlefield. For instance, if you have a {Soul Warden} in your hand, you are not able to gain life when a creature enters. Purphoros's ability is no different. His ability that says "...is not a creature if your devotion to red is less than 5" only takes effect if he is on the battlefield. Anywhere else (your deck, graveyard, hand, etc.) he is always both a creature and an enchantment. This means you can fetch gim with {Tooth and Nail} no matter what your devotion to red is.

Second question: Creatures put into play by {Tooth and Nail} enter simultanioisly. This means that {Purphoros, God of the Forge} will "see" the other creature enter the battlefield. This means his ability triggers.

Do they enter at the same time but the ability still goes on the stack and you choose how they resolve?  Correct?  If not, my bad.
