Title: Deathtouch errata clarification.
Post by: Butch1977 on December 01, 2013, 05:04:17 PM
I am not looking to open another deathtouch trample thread. I almost just pm'd Gorzo or Kaleo to avoid this. Lol. My only question is does  {Toxin Sliver} count as a deathtouch creature? There isnt a ruling on the card stating it's deathtouch.

I am aware of the regenerate conflict of deathtouch, that's not the point of the question.

No. The sliver says "whenever a sliver you control deals COMBAT damage", where death touch is ANY damage.

I should have been more specific Mlerner. Sorry.... I'm trying to not open another deathtouch plus trample thread.... During combat if I have a a toxin sliver and a grants trample sliver, would it act the same as deathtouch plus trample.

Ah. Yes, Deathtouch is basically the same as the sliver but functions outside of combat also.

Actually looking more of a how much damage to deal.... Not a umbrella of destroy. Venom will destroy them but doesnt specify how much jt takes to do it with the way i read it

I agree with you, just looking for verification of 1 point damage and trample the rest with toxin. I think venom is completely different with the way it's worded

Nope. Doesnt work. Deathtouch is a property of damage that affects how you assign it. This sliver is a triggered ability that doesnt apply until after damage is dealt. You must assign the normal amount of damage to meet lethal.

Ok, thought this fell under the category of shroud before there was "shroud" so they can block all number of damage wheather 1/1 or 10/10 even though cards before deathtouch states "at the end of combat" like venom states and  "combat damage" like toxin states?
