Title: Untrustworthy Traders
Post by: cltrn81 on March 19, 2012, 07:05:42 PM
How many people have pending trades with Thatoneguyjoey?

I do not want to run his name through the mud but I am getting complaints and I have my own suspicions since I am also waiting for a trade from him.  I received 4 other trades that were done after him and he only has 1 card to send me.  If he can be deemed trustworthy then none of this will matter.  In the meantime I feel obligated to inform people to use extra caution with this person until things are proved otherwise.

I have big shoulders and I will accept the risk of carrying the burden of looking like an ass if I am wrong, but I would rather say something and look like an ass then let people get ripped off if I have any say in the matter.

If its really large, maybe organize something privately though eBay or other official trading site. At the very least get tracking.

I plan to overnight his stuff if mine comes in.  I did not trust him from the start and wanted to secure a trade to see for myself.  I also hope you get your stuff.  How long have you been waiting and do you know if he received what you sent?

I haven't had a Deal with him and i do not know all the details so i call myself a neutral observer in this matter and i Hope it resolves soon. But Could you please wait for him giving a Statement before flaming him into hell.
Thanks ^.^

It involves a combined total of about $300-$500 worth of cards, so yeah I'm sketchy now. I think I'll wait until a lesser trade gets confirmed.

I am not flaming him into hell.  I just want people to be informed and I wanted to open communication up to see if others are experiencing the same thing with this person.

Wow he lives in same town as me saw him on multiverse.  I wonder if I know him and if he plays at the local shops.  I don't get to go too often but I have friends who do.  Anyone got his real name maybe I can find out his reputation?

I am still waiting on my cards from him i sent mine with a conformation number and usps said they were delivered on sat. I asked last night if he got them he said he is at a funeral in chicago until wednesday. I expect the cards he sent to be here in the next day or two.  Also was a rather large trade.

To defend ThatoneguyJoey I actually had a really big deal go through with him, the cards valued around 300 and the deal went really smooth got my cards in 4 days. I recently talked with him and his mom and dad died 2 weeks ago an he is going through a bunch of hell. Just to let y'all know, he is a really good guy just going through a lot of stuff right now

If so that's sad to hear and at least we got one confirmation now of one of his trades going through.

:/ Drummerboy, I'm not sure if you are legitimate or not, you have racked up a total of 2 posts and there is a possibility of you being anpther account of you being a different user. To join the bandwagon, I also have a trade pending with him, but it is pretty new, so I'm not expected my cards any time soon.

The reason being I only have 2 post is because I believe in the pm feature on this app do to the fact that I can pm a user to strike a deal instead of putting the deal on blast and have somebody else come around and step on my toes you know

Some may call it putting it 'on blast' but it's not a terrible measure to post on a user's Private Page that you pm'd them, and for other users to know what the final say on a deal is instead of one person's word versus another's.

Look guys first off I'm very sorry if all of you are thinking I'm an untrustworthy person. I have a lot of 💩 going on with me and my family these past 2 weeks, but I assure you that all of you will receive your cards just be patient and let me deal with 💩 first

Not to be offensive at all, but I fully understand being in a rough situation and asking people you are dealing with to wait until such things pass over. Helps save you the trouble of this exact kind of thing.

And as for drummer boy, most people look to involved members, and if you only had two posts, one of which I know was telling me that Joey was trustworthy. So don't be offended too much by suspcion

He has my condolences as well but maybe he should take care if his "💩" as he calls instead of trying to secure a $300 trade just yesterday with someone if he does not have the time to follow through with it.  It is not fair for people to be mailing him cards and then he can cry trouble at home....all
the while trying to secure other trades.

Edit:  If you need time to handle personal business fine just let people know.  It is just hard to believe when a few minutes before your post about the issue......you told someone else that you have a laundry list of expensive cards you can trade them.

I am sorry but things don't add up and I am going to call it like I see it.

Just a side a thought for everyone saying to lay off. I sent my trade and was told he sent his part just over a week ago now. I have also made a trade to a guy in Australia. That one was finished in around a week, and he had prepared me for three. Just saying. I'm feeling ripped.

Things are starting to add up with this whole untrustworthy trader situation, looking at all of his and drummer boys posts along with what's been happening its possible that he has been doing this on other forums as well in order to amass the collection he has...that being said I would also like to point out that even working at a card store probably wouldn't give the benefit of 50% off of booster boxes, then they would be giving them away to him and lose a lot of money that way, so not that believable in my opinion. I've been sitting back and watching all of this I silence just as an outside perspective

My thought exactly......you can't tell me that WotC sells booster boxes to dealers for less than $50.......hell everyone would be a dealer then.  Also, who has a Beta booster box sitting around in there closet for a decade or so and just decides on a whim one day to open it and sell the packs to people on a forum.  I would have a big party and invite my friends to do a booster draft.....then I would strip search em on the way out the door lol.

I really doubt this guy was out of town we've already caught him in a bunch of lies.  Is that going to be the next excuse that he hasn't received anything from anybody?  That they were stolen while he was gone?  He lives in an apartment his mail should be safely protected and need a his key to access.
