Title: Lions Eye Diamond
Post by: Mattao19 on November 27, 2013, 12:37:59 PM
 {Lion's Eye Diamond}

I don't get it cool it's a Black Lotus but discarding your hand seems like an awful price.

I'm still new to these older cards and it took me awhile to realize {Dark Comfidants} power lol

The main thing I know of is LED + {faithless looting} + any dredger ({golgari grave-troll} for example.) Toss your hand via LED for {R}{R}{R}, flashback {faithless looting} and instead of drawing, dredge with your {golgari grave-troll}.

If you can hit that T1, then you don't need a hand or even lands if you're playing dredge.

Since it doesnt specifically tell you how many cards must be discarded, if you currently have no cards in your hand, discarding your hand simply means you discard nothing and still can get the mana?

But you need flashback cards and/or activated abilities.

I see its potential but idk how it's $75

There's so {Infernal Tutor}, which you can cast, then crack LED to pitch your hand so you can search for any card. Then you can cast it off of LED's mana.

how does that work with {infernal tutor}? if you cast the spell and then crack Lod will the tutor only check hellbent on resolution?

This.

I use it often. Though I have 4 in my deck, I only use it once. I am a happy camper when I pull a {Cephalid Colloseum} or {City of brass} a {Faithless Looting} and a couple dredgers, but also {Lion's Eye Diamond}.

T1: play {City of brass} {tap} for {R} play {Faithless Looting} doesn't matter what I draw. Hopefully discard 2x {Golgari Grave-Troll}s. Play {Lion's Eye Diamond} flash backing {Faithless Looting} and dredging the trolls, hopefully dredging {Narcomeoba}s as well as {Bridge From Below} and {Ichorid}. T2 is pretty much win if you have {Dread Return} and {Flayer of the Hatebound} in your graveyard.

How would you pull out the char belcher?

You either hav enough extra mana to hard-cast  {Goblin Charbelcher} and then use LED to activate it, or you do the whole {Infernal Tutor} shenanigans.

Alternatively you could {Burning Wish}, crack LED's, and {Empty the Warrens} for a bunch.

The most explosive dredge play I can imagine with LED is actually {Breakthrough}, cracking LED for RRR, dredging hopefully 4 times, and hitting a faithless looting to dredge 2 more times.

Flipping cards into your graveyard for cards like {{Narcomoeba}}, which opens up {{Dread Return}}

This. Also {ichorid}s trigger it.
