Here is a thread for all common rule questions. If you have a good common rule question, I will add it to this list.
1). Trample and Deathtouch
I have {Bow of Nylea} out and attack with {worldspine wurm}. My opponent blocks with {Hover Barrier}. What happens?
Deathtouch is considered to be lethal damage. And trample says that once lethal damage has been assigned to all blockers, the rest is dealt to the defending player.
Therefore, {Worldspine Wurm} only has to do 1 damage to the {Hover Barrier} because that one damage is "lethal" and the rest tramples over and hits the defending player for 14 damage.
Rules
702.2b: Any nonzero amount of combat damage assigned to a creature by a source with deathtouch is considered to be lethal damage, regardless of that creature's toughness. See rules 510.1c-d.
Psst!
*points to the FAQ sticky*
;) it's right there, people just don't read it lol
This is actually wrong. The ruling was changed so that the creature with trample must assign damage equal to the toughness of the creature blocking it to that creature

There's a difference between lying and being wrong. Lying is giving incorrect information deliberately and is condemnable. Being wrong is giving incorrect information believing it correct and is forgivable.
I'm going to assume you really ment you were wrong.
Here we go again...
Is there an official ruling of this? I once asked a judge and they said it doesn't count deathtouch until after damage was dealt so you had to push through toughness, but I keep hearing the opposite. Official ruling number?
702.2b (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?action=imtg;area=rule;number=702.2b): Any nonzero amount of combat damage assigned to a creature by a source with deathtouch is considered to be lethal damage, regardless of that creature's toughness. See rules 510.1c-d.
Deathtouch is a property of damage, not an ability activated by it. Tell that judge to turn in his credentials if he doesn't know that.
The section on both deathtouch and on trample refernces's this.
