So I run a Magic the gathering club at my school. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas for interesting games we can play
Planeschase is fun. Zombie Horde is pretty fun too. I haven't faced the hydra yet, looks like it could be a decent time.
DO a Swiss elimination tourney. But each round you have to use a random deck made by someone else ;)
Supervillain Planechase EDH. It's like Planechase, but everyone gets a Scheme deck. I've never played, but it sounds hilarious.
Hell, while we're at it, let's throw in the Hydra as well! Might as well mash together lots of game types.
With the games could you list a link or a brief description.
Redrafts are fun. You make packs out of the cards you already have from various sets and draft them. Its fun and it allows you sharpen your drafting skills because your packs aren't designed for Limited like normal ones.
Tribal tournament? Edh?
Cube draft is cool, time consuming, but very much a lot of fun. Crafting your own draft environment, discussing cards and building your own meta.
Back draft. Everyone drafts a deck and gives I to someone else.
PACK WARS!!!!
Everyone has their own rules but my playgroup uses these:
1 Pack each
2x Every basic land type
Open pack and DO NOT LOOK, shuffle lands in immediately
If you have a card with {G}{G}{G} like {Worldspine Wurm. Then you get 1 forest and shuffle into your library.
You get no mulligans.
Mill doesn't exist

These are all great formats for more casual players. I highly recommend star.
How is it running a magic club? My friend and I are thinking of starting one...
Its not that hard. I just plan drafts set up pairings and set up fun things to do. Like this.
Planechase is great, I'd recommend it. Thinking about redownloadeng DotP 2013 so I can play it again
